The present course is intended for second year PEM  students enrolled in the department of Arabic who are currently taking a course in the field of Arabic language teaching. The syllabus focuses on key vocabulary related to the field of linguistics and language teaching respectively and on words and expressions frequently used in academic English. To this end, during the first semester, we will cover reading texts and audio recordings (listening) on characteristics of human language, definitions of language and linguistics, the difference between language acquistion and language learning and so on. In the second semester, we will focus on the differnt learning styles,strategies for dealing with student misbehaviour, effective questioning among other classroom- related issues. The grammar section of the course will review basic rules of word order, countable and uncountable nouns, objects and complements along some confusing tenses like using the present perfect and the past simple.
